Gregory Atkin

Gregory Atkin was born in Bristol in 1934. Having completed his early education, he became a choral scholar at Bristol Cathedral in 1945 where he learned the musical tradition of the Anglican Church. He became a Roman Catholic in 1955, and sang from 1959 as a tenor in Westminster Cathedral Choir. He read theology at King's College London, gaining an honours degree in 1990. He is now a subdeacon in the Greek Orthodox Church serving in the Brighton Parish and has been a County Ecumenical Officer since 1994. On a contrasting note, he is the tutor of the A Cappella Choral Class in Lewes, which specialises in the performance of 16th and early 17th century choral music.
