As Quakers we value simplicity and sincerity, and because of this there is always a degree of flexibility and informality about the way that we organise special occasions, each of which will include periods of silence and the opportunity for anyone present to speak from the heart.

These occasions are most meaningful when we can offer our continuing love and support to those who marry in our meeting and who may eventually bring their children into our community, so we are reluctant to "lay on" ceremonies for people who we don't know well. We do recognise that people who have had no connection with our meeting may seek our assistance with the arrangement of a funeral, and that Quakers can help to arrange a non-denominational ceremony that both respects and bridges differences of religious belief.
